K.D. Sistema: ChemiKiLL

OS: What’s the significance in naming the band K.D.Sistema? Can you comment on this?

Hi!... K.D.Sistema is actually short for Kolapso Do Sistema which is the Portuguese word for System Collapse. We went by the name System Collapse during the first few weeks/months of the bands existence, but we decided to change it to K.D.Sistema just to have it more complexed, the name is a representation of what we’re feeling right now as an individual and as a group. For us we refer to the present situation, the government and ourselves as the system…and aside from that…wala lang…trip lang… boring daw kasi yung System Collapse eh. Now here's our interview with KD Sistema.


OS: How do you describe your music to others that haven’t heard you?

It’s very hard to describe the music that we’re doing right now… see we all have different musical influences and what we’re trying to do is to incorporate all those in the songs that we make. We want the songs to represent us as a person and mostly as a group. But we often find ourselves flirting with Hardcore, D-Beat and Grind…hehehe…

OS: What bands were you listening that influenced your sound as a band?

Bands… there’s a lot!... A.D.A, Discharge, From Ashes Rise, Skitsystem, old Napalm Death, Iskra, Dropdead, Dead Ends, Ramones, Refused, Throwdown, Misfits, Weezer, Johnny Cash, and Woody Guthrie to name a few…

Jhon:Huh? That’s few?!

OS: How about your lyrics, what does it suppose to suggest?

The lyrics usually depends on the current issues (political/environmental), our personal struggles, and dealing with our personal demons.

OS: Can you describe the people behind K.D.Sistema?

K.D.Sistema consists of four totally different guys that has different musical tastes and point of view but has the same passion, with members from Cavite, Cainta, Makati and QC. Working class members and we are also from different bands…

OS: How do you guys work on your songs? I mean, when I heard em, panalo!

We always make it a point that everyone contributes to a single song that we make. Every time we practice and make songs we always have something with us… a chord, a beat, lyrics, ideas, food and beverages.

OS: Do you guys have future projects/recordings?

Yes…absolutely… we are planning to have our second demo cd or a full length by September or early October… we’re working on some new songs and also working on some stuff with our other projects/bands.

Substance32: The Resurrection

Here comes a hardcore band coming out of Cebu, Philippines. 2 songs are included in Vol.5's compilation project, which they did a great job. These songs are "Ashes" and "I love Mama Mary" . My interview with Substance32's frontman Mitch said it all.

M: Hi sheng! this is mitch how you doin!?im gona be answering for these questions for your blogspot :)

OS: Im gud, been busy with stuffs at work, heres the first question. how'd you get the band's name Substance32?
M: the name just came out from nowhere,all i remember way back in highschool, me and my buddy buch did that during a boring chemistry class. WURD!! LOLZ

OS: If you want to describe the band with just a few words to someone who has never heard about it, what would you say?
M: for someone who have never heard about it!? hmmmmm..(thinking deeply)SUBSTANCE 32 IS EVIL!!!

OS: Wohowww! Could you describe in brief what kind of people are involved in yer band ?
M: hardworking and really dedicated to what were doing.and were glad to say that in our current line up right now everything is going smoothly in making songs.

OS: That's good to know. By the way what are the feelings and reaction is your band and your lyrics supposed to suggest?
M: Unleashing the anger within oneself.

OS: I agree that must help. I read that you guys ended at 2008 but back again? what can u say about this?
M: yah! true, the previous bassist we had quit for no reason,and we struggled for a couple of months to get a bassist that could really keep up with jiji's ideas. thankfully we found sugar(new bassist) and i could tell were slowly ressurecting and ready for another round of mayhem and destruction in stage! YEAH!!!!!!!

OS: how do u guys work on your songs?
M: just making it as heavy as fast as we could, and also as original as it can be.

OS: Yes I heard. You guys did an excellent job. Could you list top 5 in your playlist today?

OS: One last question though, this sound may be crazy. If given the possibility to change something in the world what would it be?
M: if we were only given a chance to change the world!!? i dunno i guess for the guys at substance 32, i guess we would change the drinking age limit from 18 to 10! HAHAHAHA! lolz
