Overtune: let’s make it more casual, I hate so-formal-interview so first question is why vex? any story behind the text?
Vex: Most people ask me too this question, and i can't hardly explain to them why! and story behind this is already forgotten, but let me tell you this one! why not VEX???
Overtune: how did the band start? Because I seriously love the way you play your music, do you guys have common band/people influences?
Vex: It all started one hot afternoon, under the tree of life at intramuros, when we talk about how fast the cycle of life is, how fast the bullet from the gun is, how can we share our beautiful blessings fast and unstoppable, hehehe! we think of it very long time ago, if why need to have a band, and why play grindcore if we can also play pop and emo, so that people will like us, most of the times pay us for our stupid musick, be fame and been interview to a t.v station, and at the end,we ask ourselves why need to have money if we don't know how to use it! so we decided to have a band and play grindcore musick, i really don't know why i'm telling you this!? because all we want is to play Grindcore, without any consent from the higher officials of our sick government! is this clear to you now??? hehehe! thank you for loving our musick, we share same influences, like you!
Overtune: who writes/compose/arranged for your piece?
Vex: I do wrote those stupidness (marcore) but Tenga my co-vox also wrote some. still we fuckin share on that assignment!
Overtune: how long have you been playing in local UG shows?
Vex: we started late of 2004, until now! so i think, more or less 5 years of existench! but me (marcore) i first start to have a punkrock band since 2002.
Overtune: it’s quite obvious I can’t translate your song into a more simple idea, what do you usually write or how do you compose your songs, do you focus more on political/social or just plain violence?
Vex: we focus in everything we experienced, everything we see, everything a people can feel. no matter if it's political or not! we do violence for everything.
Overtune: your top 10 favorite local/international band at the moment?
Vex: AGATHOCLES, EXTREME NOISE TERROR, (OLD) NAPALM DEATH, FEAR OF GOD, and some lokal bands like PARACONFLICT, NOISE CONSPIRACY PROJECT, DISABUSE, A.D.A, CO-ARSE, DEAD ON THE SPOT. (hahaha!!!)
Overtune: do you guys stroke any side projects or anything?
Vex: i do play vocals for my other band named DEAD ON THE SPOT, our bassist also play for DISABUSE, and DEAD ON THE SPOT, our 2 guitarist also play for other hardcore bands like EVERY CHILD IS A TREASURE and TO END THEIR ERA, our drummer play on his real all time black metal band BUGONG.
Overtune: I played in a band before and unfortunately it didn’t work out the way I expect it, its been pretty fuck like I was trying to pull out something you guys do (seriously) any words for bands/dudes or people who tries to be like Vex? :P
Vex: Just simply be you! hehehe... do what you want aslong that you don't step on others shoe, stay punk, be proud! play fast die young, hahaha! just treat everyone as your brothers and sisters and everything will go smoothly.
Overtune: its been awesome knowing bands like you exist in local shows, Any last words?
